ROT: how to stage a brand’s world during Milan Fashion Week.

Brand activation ROT alla Milano Fashion Week, a cura di YOHOHO Studio: donna in pelliccia apre una porta rossa

With ROT Week we launched a brand activation, turning a showroom into a space that changes identity over the course of the day and brings the brand’s universe to life among buyers, performances, club culture and social media campaigns.

Milan Fashion Week is one of the busiest and noisiest weeks in the international fashion calendar. For an emerging brand like ROT, already built on a radical identity and a very precise world, the question was: how do you turn this moment into something meaningful?

In a context like that it would have been easy to settle for simply being there. An event, an evening, a few well-designed invitations, some social media content. But that wasn’t what ROT needed. A brand like this didn’t need an appearance. It needed a staging.

That’s how ROT Week was born.

The showroom as a brand experience for living the brand’s philosophy.

The idea, at least on paper, was simple: turning the ROT showroom in the center of Milan into something that wasn’t just an exhibition space, but a living place that changed identity over the course of the day and embodied the brand’s aesthetic and cultural universe in physical space.

During the day the showroom had to work as a professional space for meeting international buyers, presenting the collection and sharing ROT’s philosophy. But as the hours went by, that same place would gradually change its nature: from showroom to cultural laboratory, from meeting space to artistic salon, until it became a club. In other words, not simply a store. A world.

This is the most important point of the project. Because the challenge wasn’t so much organizing a week of events as making the space behave like the brand. Making it carry the same tension between elegance and provocation, between control and metamorphosis, between discipline and desire that we had already built into its identity.

A space that changes identity over the course of the day.

During ROT Week the showroom took on different identities throughout the day. In the morning it became a meeting place for buyers and fashion professionals, who came from all over Europe to discover the collection and get to know the brand’s vision up close. The appointments took place among the garments on display and the elements of the set design, in an intimate atmosphere that let people step inside ROT’s aesthetic identity without the filter of a standardized presentation.

In the afternoon the professional dimension slowly gave way to the cultural one. The showroom opened up to the city, hosting readings, performance moments and a fine art photography exhibition in dialogue with the brand’s visual world. Fashion thus stopped being just a product and became a language, entering into a relationship with other forms of expression.

Finally, as evening came, the space changed atmosphere completely. The lights went down, the room turned red, ROT’s signature color, and the place that a few hours earlier had been a showroom gradually turned into a club. Music began to fill the space, bodies moved, and the brand’s universe became something to live, not just to look at.

This is where ROT Week stops looking like a schedule of events and starts working as a brand experience: the space never stays the same, it transforms. And in this continuous metamorphosis it gives physical form to one of the brand’s central principles.

ROT WEEK
Event Branding, Art Direction, Social Editorial Plan, Social Ads

Performance, music and languages that bring the brand activation to life.

The week’s program was designed to concretely embody the three creative threads that define ROT’s identity: paradox, provocation and metamorphosis.

Over the course of ROT Week the showroom hosted techno DJs from Milan’s new scene, contemporary art performers, performing arts dancers, drag shows, readings and an exhibition of fine art photographs inspired by the brand’s values. Very different artists and performers, all used to moving across languages, identities and disciplines.

The music turned the space into a place of nighttime energy. The performances introduced moments of surprise and rupture compared to the more institutional side of fashion. The drag queens brought to the stage a radical, ironic theatricality that was in perfect dialogue with ROT’s provocative spirit.

Taken together, these contributions built a true choreography of languages. The showroom became a hybrid environment, suspended between art gallery, club and cultural space, where fashion, music and performance met and influenced one another.

An event that was already communication in itself: social media.

ROT Week wasn’t just a sequence of events. It was also a structured communication project.

We handled the cultural direction of the week, defining the program and the rhythm of the events. We designed the visual identity of the posters and invitations, building a graphic system consistent with the brand’s aesthetic. But above all we designed the story of everything that was happening.

This is a decisive step. Because an event like this works only when it doesn’t stay closed inside the space that hosts it. It has to be able to become narrative, memory, deferred desire. That’s why the social media content plan became a central tool. Day after day we told the story of ROT Week on social media, translating the atmosphere of the showroom, the performances, the audience and the most intense moments into ROT’s digital universe.

When physical space, social media, Meta Ads and newsletters work together.

Alongside social media we ran Meta Ads campaigns to promote the events and broaden the brand’s audience. The ads weren’t only meant to bring people to the events, but also to introduce ROT to a new audience, directing users to the website and the e-commerce. It’s the same logic that guides our work on campaigns: advertising and brand identity have to speak the same language.

At the same time we also worked a lot on the newsletters, which proved to be a fundamental tool for keeping a direct dialogue with the community: telling the story of the week’s events, exploring the spirit of the brand, presenting the quality of the garments. This work led to significant sales, but above all to a stronger relationship with part of the audience.

This is where ROT Week reveals its strategic meaning. Many events during Fashion Week are conceived as isolated moments: an evening, a runway show, a party. ROT Week, instead, was designed as an integrated communication system: physical space, social media content, advertising and newsletters worked together to build a consistent story. As in our approach to services: every tool is stronger when it’s part of a single path.

The showroom was the place of direct experience, social media the place of storytelling. The advertising campaigns brought new audiences into the ROT world, the newsletters strengthened the relationship with those who had already come into contact with the brand.

The result was a chain reaction: the events generated content, the content generated attention, the attention generated traffic to the website and the e-commerce, and the website turned that curiosity into a relationship with the brand.

Staging a brand’s world.

By the end of the week ROT was no longer just a luxury knitwear label. It had become something more interesting: a small cultural community.

And this is what makes ROT Week such a strong project: not having added a series of side events to the brand, but having found a way to stage it. The showroom didn’t simply host ROT. For one week, it was ROT.

This, in our view, is a very important point even beyond the single case. A brand becomes recognizable not when it merely communicates well, but when it manages to build situations in which its universe takes shape. When signs, images, sounds, people, space and story stop being separate elements and become a consistent experience.

In ROT’s case, Milan Fashion Week wasn’t just an opportunity to be seen. It was the right moment to make that world exist before people’s eyes, within their relationships, in the content they shared, in the community that grew around the brand.

In short, this is how we built the ROT Week activities.

ROT Week is a brand activation we developed at YOHOHO during Milan Fashion Week for the fashion brand ROT. This project turned the ROT showroom in the center of Milan into a space with a shifting identity: buyers in the morning, cultural events (readings, performances, photography exhibition) in the afternoon, club at night. We handled the art direction, the visual identity of the invitations, the social media content plan, the Meta Ads campaigns and the email marketing.

This case shows how a fashion event can become an integrated communication system that gives shape to a brand’s universe beyond the digital space. And it’s a path of natural evolution, traced by ROT’s brand identity.
